Cristiano Ronaldo is no stranger to controversy (remember his sending off of Wayne Rooney and subsequent wink in the 2006 World Cup?) and after today's loss to Spain Ronaldo proved once again why you either love him, or hate him.
After a 1-0 loss to Spain, Ronaldo and the rest of his Portugal teammates were exiting the field when a cameraman got into the face of the Portugal captain. Ronald looked directly into the camera and hocked a loogie at the ground in front of the cameraman.
Fair or foul?
Obviously this move is open to interpretation, but it seems like Ronaldo is just being Ronaldo. That's what he does, and he likes the attention it gets him. He spit for a reason: he was trying to send a message, and it obviously worked.
I doubt he ever knew what the message was, but if I can see him doing that simply because he was upset at the loss and he wanted to show his frustration by spitting into the camera.
