When you're one of the best footballers in the world, life should be easy. You wake up everyday with millions in your bank account and the only thing you have to do is kick around a ball. What a life.
But it's not such a life if you're Cristiano Ronaldo, whose country, Portugal, was just eliminated from the World Cup.
"I feel a broken man," he said, "completely disconsolate, frustrated and an unimaginable sadness. ... I am a human being and like any human being I suffer and I have the right to suffer alone."
Looks like you should have played a little bit harder, Ronaldo. Instead, you were loafing around trying your best to be invisible. You're the best player in the world, but you didn't show it at the World Cup. On the grandest of stages, you collapsed.
Should he really be considered the best?
In a few weeks he'll look back and wonder what could have been. How far could they have gone? Would they have won the World Cup? Portugal didn't advance because of one man; his name is Cristiano Ronaldo. Too bad he didn't realize it until it was too late. Now, he's the scapegoat, and he can't do a thing about it. All he can do is wallow in his own sorrow.

It's true that he hasn't played to the best of his abilities in this world cup, but everyone knows he's good, everyone knows what he can do on the field. He shouldn't have to prove himself time and time again. No player will always play perfectly in every match. It's hard to do your best when all the pressure is on you; when you're responsible for the teams outcome (when it should be the team as a whole not just 1 of the 11 or 23). People should stop criticizing him for not showing off. But then again, when he does show off he's criticized for that too like how he's arrogant, a ball hogger etc. Give Cristiano a break; he deserves it. He didn't leave his mark in this world cup, but he has at least 2 more, and he doesn't need to leave a mark, his name (Cristiano Ronaldo) says it all. There's a reason for why he's one of the three greatest. The way i see it, he didn't shine, but Messi hasn't either. He (Messi) has yet to prove why he's the best player in the world cup, so if critics are going to criticize Ronaldo, criticize Messi also, because he hasn't done anything worth remembering yet. Leave Cristiano alone, and let him suffer alone like he has the right to.
Here we go again! Everyone blame Rolando for his team's lack of goal scoring opportunity and poor set up on the pitch! Yes its obvious, this was not Ronaldo's world cup as he struggled to find his niche. THATS NOT ONLY HIS FAULT! How you can you expect him to perform miracles when the Portugal team heads into the cup already facing turmoil and lack of chemistry among teammates, not to mention the pressure of the whole national squad's reliance on him. Ronaldo is best for outrunning defenders an scoring, but how can he do this when brilliant coach querioz puts him up front against Brazil all alone? How can he do this when his coach consistently changes his game plan? How can he score when every time he gets the ball he is meet with three, four defenders? Its not possible every time. If Spain's Villa has an off day, there are a handful of other players that can back him up. Ronaldo, however seems to always be on his own no one there to support him and back him up on the field. Ronaldo's performance was drained out by his coach's tactics and the lack of a good system that would give him the freedom and opportunities he needs to play well. Surely his attitude and confidence may also play a factor in his downfall, but Ronaldo certainly is not only to be blamed for his team's loss. How can he carry the success of the team when there isn't much of a team to begin with? His teammates also failed to properly make passes and set up scoring opportunities. So why blame everything on him? He clearly was not given the atmosphere and support he needed to make an impression at at this cup, not his fault. Ronaldo has already made his mark on futbol history and no one can ever deny his ability and talent. The fact that he could not find a way to show what everyone knows he is capable of should hardly be the sole reason for Portugal's loss. It would have been nice to see him unravel some of his Real Madrid flare but the fact he couldn't do it is not the only reason Portugal lost and if anyone thinks it is, they clearly know nothing about futbol.
His did the best he could and that all anyone can ever ask of him Spain got lucky we all know is talent and its practically impossible to be the best over and over again. No one is feeling worst about this than Cristiano. I think we should respect his sorrow and hope he does better in the next FIFA
NIKE WRITE YOUR FUTURE AD CURSE!!!!!!
ITS THE CURSE I TELL YOU!!!!
I will never understand why people will blame one person when there are TEN OTHER PEOPLE playing on the field. It's stupidity at its best. What's the point of playing as a team if you're going to end up blaming and/or putting full responsibility on one person? When you lose, you lose as a team. There are ten other players on that field whose jobs are just as important as Ronaldo's. It's simply idiotic to say that it's all his fault. Ronaldo is a forward; therefore, he has no business defending the goal! It's his job to score goals, and based on what he was given to work with, he did the best he could. It was obvious that Portugal, as a team, was out of sync. They lacked the chemistry that every team should have. Not to mention, I don't know what was going through Queiroz's head. His game plan was all wrong. It seems to me like everybody expects Ronaldo to get pass 4-5 defenders on his own without any help. Ronaldo is a genius when it comes to Football, but he can't do everything by himself. There has to be other people up there, and unfortunately, there was never anyone there to help out, and if there was, it just didn't work out. Ronaldo can't be "The Perfect Player" all the time. He's human. He's going to have his bad games, and he's going to have his good games. Lighten up.
I felt like crying when i saw this photo i absolutely luv Cristiano Ronaldo i hate it when people say he did nothing against Spain .He's a good player in the eyes of people when he scored against North Korea and got the man of the match but when Portugal looses let's all blame Ronaldo it's not just Ronaldo's fault what about the whole team ?! soccer players have good games and bad , winnings and loses u can't just blame Cristiano Ronaldo he's just human !
