Rumor Central: Golden State Warriors To Become Las Vegas Warriors?

From • July 15, 2010

It has just been announced that Joseph Lacob, part owner of the Boston Celtics, has become the new owner of the Golden State Warriors. The deal was worth $450 million, the highest paid price ever for an NBA franchise.

It had previously been thought that Oracle CEO, Larry Ellison was the front runner in the bidding war, but after reaching $400 million, he refused to increase his offer. That's when Lacob, in partnership with Peter Guber of Mandalay Entertainment, swooped in with his $450 million offer.

No word on what will happen next with the franchise, but rumors have swirled that any new owner would be interested in moving the team to Las Vegas.

But, with the transition to a new owner, don't expect a relocation to happen anytime soon.
