Maurice Clarett Is Back In School…No Really, He Is

From • July 27, 2010

Eight years ago, a running back by the name of Maurice Clarett led the Ohio State Buckeyes to a 14-0 record and a BCS national championship by rushing for 1,237 yards and 18 touchdowns. But after that, it all fell apart for Clarett.

He was suspended for the entire 2003 college season, and the NFL did not allow him to enter the draft. Then in 2006, after being released by the Denver Broncos, Clarett plead guilty to aggravated robbery and carrying a concealed weapon, earning him 3 and 1/2 years of jail time.

It seemed we wouldn't be hearing from this former football stud for a while, but now he's back. And while his football career may over, that doesn't mean his academic career will follow suit. Now, the one time NFL prospect is back at Ohio State.

"This is a surreal feeling to be back at Ohio State in such a supportive environment," said Clarett in a statement. "I have looked forward to being back in school, and I'm doing my best to fit in with other students. I don't want to be a distraction or nuisance to the football team or to students on campus."

If he can just act like another normal human being, he should accomplish his goal.
