Ilya Kovalchuk is a Devil for life.
After months of waiting, Ilya Kovalchuk is officially a member of the New Jersey Devils. According to TSN.ca's Darren Dreger, the NHL and NHLPA have come to an agreement on a change to the rules that govern long term contracts.
On Wednesday, the National Hockey League and the National Hockey League Players Association agreed to extend the deadline to accept or reject the latest Ilya Kovalchuk contract proposal to Friday at 5pm. According to Dreger, the two sides are currently working on the neccessary paperwork to complete the process.
Dreger tweeted the following tweets on his Twitter account:
Kovy's 15 yr, $100 mil contract will be approved as is. It will be the last of its kind, along with Hossa's, Luongo's, Savard's, etc...
