
Reggie Bush may become college football’s first Heisman winner to be forced to hand back the trophy.
Bush ran for 1,700 yards and 16 touchdowns with gravity defying leaps and dynamic performances that were rarely seen before in the college sports world. It all was for naught in 2005 when Vince Young out-shined Bush and teammate Matt Leinart in the BCS Championship.
Everyone will remember Young’s 8 yard scamper on 4th and 5 to drop USC and win the 2005 BCS Championship, 41-38.
Bush and Leinart would have led USC to a repeat, and may have officially cemented their mark on college football. But instead, the glittering 34 game win streak came to end.
The pain doesn’t end there for Trojan fans as now Bush’s records from the end of his sophomore season on are in jeopardy. Reports are flowing in that the Heisman Trophy Trust decided to strip Bush of the 2005 Heisman Trophy and further reprimands will be dealt.
The 2004 BCS Championship and the wins from 2004-05 are rumored to be on the way out. The trust will decide soon, but they have denied that the decision is done.
